Other Institutional Activities

Bethel Student Nursing Association: In Spring 2011, My graduate student and I started the Bethel Student Nurse Association. This is part of the National Student Nurse Association and gives the students an opportunity to be a leader in an organization. This past Spring BSNA was accepted into BSA as a club. There are three pillars in the BSNA: Professional development, service and spiritual formation which includes Nurses Christian fellowship. Each year officers are elected from the junior and senior years. Last year the students held several activities including a Be the Match drive for bone marrow donors, and a panel presentation where local health system managers spoke to the students about career options.

Recruitment and Public Relations Activities

As director of CAPS Nursing degree completion program this past year, I attended quarterly information sessions at several sites. I met with prospective students and answered questions related to the program.

In the CAS nursing program I meet with prospective students several times per month, and also have office visits during campus visits. I have been actively involved in the new student spring advising sessions as well.

For the Nursing Pinning Ceremony for the 2013 and 2014 graduating classes, I was chosen to give the pinning talk.
